Happy Tree

The VOCM Cares Happy Tree Campaign has become a Christmas tradition. For more than 40 years, the VOCM Cares Foundation has been partnering with the Salvation Army and Avalon Mall to keep this tradition alive. This fundraiser helps to collect and distribute toys for children in need throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.

Coats for Kids

The Coats for Kids Campaign is an annual children’s winter clothing drive, providing low-income families with warm winter coats, boots, snow pants, hats, mittens and scarves free of charge. Winter items are collected through donations, primarily in conjunction with local businesses and schools.

Thanksgiving Food Drive

For many years, VOCM Cares in partnership with Metrobus and Sobey's have been hosting an annual Thanksgiving Food Drive in the St. John’s metro area. During this time, food bin receptacles are placed on all Metrobuses as well as at each Sobey's location. This food drive usually takes place 10-12 days leading up to the Thanksgiving weekend.

Buddy Bears Campaign

Buddy bears are teddy bears that are kept on board the fire trucks of the St. John’s Regional Fire Department. Firefighters working with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department use these bears when they encounter children who are involved in high stress situations such as: car accidents, structural fires, and the loss of life.
